The worst thing that could happen to your house is infestation by roaches. It is disgusting and embarrassing. Roaches are bugs with a hard shell, capable of surviving on minimal resources. They can attack any house without giving a warning. Roaches are capable of hiding in unlikely small cracks that is beyond your reach. They are fantastic survivors in the harshest of all conditions. Roaches are carriers of germs and they can spread diseases in the house where they breed. Hence, it is extremely important to keep your house free of bugs and roaches. After knowing all this you will agree with me on the importance of a cockroach exterminator.

If you happen to see a cockroach, do not fret. With proper measures and precautions, roaches can be history in your home. A few cockroaches do not indicate roach infestation in your house. However, if you see several small cockroaches moving about anywhere, then it is a grave sign. This indicates roaches breed in your house and the tiny ones are moving about exploring the various surfaces in your house. You have to take this very seriously and deal it as a major priority.

Firstly, the best advice to you is – as soon as you see a cockroach, kill it. This will prevent them from multiplying. You must find out their source, which is from where they are entering into your house. If during the day you cannot figure out, then you must look for signs in the night. Cockroaches are nocturnal bugs and venture out only at nighttime.

Roaches are attracted to damp, dark and filthy areas. You must keep your house very clean and ensure to clean all food scraps on the floor and surfaces before you sleep. If there are cracks and crevices in your house, seal them up so that roaches do not hide in them. Keep the area beneath your sink dry and clean.

If you have frequent roach observations, you must speak to a cockroach exterminator and have your house fumigated. Ideally, you must fumigate your entire building at the same time. The reason for this is that if you spray only in your house, roaches will run to your neighbors’ houses. Then, the roaches will return as soon as the chemicals get weaker. These exterminators give good discounts if you take an annual contract with them for the entire building.

There is a sad fact that roaches are becoming immune to pesticides and sprays. They are getting tolerant and do not seem to disappear with traps. They reproduce on a massive scale and only multiply in numbers. However, the best way to deal with them is to take help from experts or exterminators who will scientifically solve this problem for you. It is effective and important to approach a cockroach exterminator if the problem of roaches continues in your house. You have to deal with these bugs at the earliest. After all, you do care for the health of your family members.

Roaches are ugly hard bugs found commonly in areas that are filthy and damp. These notorious nocturnal creatures ingest food scraps left here and there. These disease carriers can crawl and hide in the cracks and crevices of your house and are capable of giving you a tough time. The worst thing that could happen in your house is roach infestation. Roaches multiply very fast and they hardly need any resource for survival. They are very tough insects and can go without food, water and even air for long periods. If you notice a roach in your house, you must kill it immediately and avoid their spread. Cockroach traps are very effective in helping you do it.

Homemade traps for cockroaches

Various kinds of traps you can lay to deal with roaches exist. The simplest of them that you can make at home is a glass water jar. Just fill a clear glass jar with water and put a little roach food in it. Then you must place this in a place that roaches frequent. The roach enters the jar to eat the food. Once it enters, then it cannot escape at all. The walls of the glass jar do not provide any grip to it to escape out. This way the cockroach stays trapped within the jar and dies in the water.

You could even place some beer in the jar that attracts roaches. This is the simplest trap that you could make. All you need is a glass jar to do this. This is very effective as there is no way the cockroach will get out. If you wish, you can apply some Vaseline on the insides of the jar to make it more slippery. Roaches cannot hold on to glass, as their claw-like legs need a rough surface to hold on.

You can make another trap at home. What you need to do is to get some sticky tape from the market. The tape has to be extremely sticky else; the roaches will not stick well and might escape. Put a small piece of onion in the middle of the tape’s length. Place this tape in a dark area and let it stay overnight. In the morning, you will find several roaches stuck on the tape.

Stainless steel cockroach traps These are stainless steel traps available in the market. You need to fit the traps into the floor drains and bar the entry of roaches, through drains and water pipes. These traps are very easy to install and they fit well in the drainage pipe. They come in several sizes and designs. This is a one-time investment and you will not have to worry about roaches entering through the drains.

Ready traps

You could even pick-up ready cockroach traps found in the market. These are like baits that contain a poisonous gel to kill the roaches. This gel first attracts the insects and when the roach eats it, it dies. Such traps contain boric acid that is very effective in killing roaches.

“I couldn’t believe that my home was taken over by blood sucking fleas. Luckily, I found a product that fixed all my flea problems.”

Is your pet suffering from an itch they can’t seem to scratch? Are you starting to notice an itch all over your body? Is your home infested with fleas?

Many pet owners deal with a flea infestation at least once, but did you know that pets are not the only ones bringing in fleas? Fleas are not shy. They will ride on anything or anyone. Even you can bring in fleas from outside. Well, what I came across will eliminate fleas easily and effectively from your home, but before we go into that let’s begin with a little information.

Is it really a flea infestation you are dealing with?

1. Pet Excessively Scratching – Does one of your pets itch more than normal? A pet being itchy is usually the first sign, but not the only. Your pet may simply have a rash or dry skin from too much sun. Even really cold weather conditions will make them itchy.

2. Small Red Bumps – Pay attention to your ankles. Because one of the most common place for fleas is the carpet they get to your ankles first. So look for little red bumps there that will typically go away in a few days. If your children are on the floor they may have these bumps all over.

How do you get rid of fleas in your home?

Before you start make sure you have at least a few hours to complete all three steps. If you don’t rid your home, your yard, and your pets at the same time then your flea infestation will come back.

(1) Flea Free Pets

- Comb Your Pets – Use a flea comb to pull the fleas out your pets fur.

- Use Flea Powder – Evenly spread powder over your pet. This kills those flea eggs and larvae so they don’t grow up to multiply into another flea infestation.

(2) Getting Rid Of Fleas In The Home

- Take a antibacterial cleaner and clean the surfaces of your home. Make sure you get the counters, cabinets, tables, and floors. Fleas enjoy humid areas so clean the basement and garage floors too.

- Vacuum all areas of the home. When vacuuming get those dark corners with the vacuum attachment. These are some of a fleas favorite areas.

- After vacuuming sprinkly powder evenly over the carpet.

- To finish the home wash, dry, and then sprinkly powder over couch surfaces, and bedding.

(3) Flea Free Yard

- Take that same flea powder and evenly coat the lawn and concrete.

- Do this at the end of every spring to prevent any fleas from multipling.

Warning: Read all the labels and directions on any product before you begin to use anywhere in your home, on your pet, or in your yard. Before most products are not safe for pets, or children. Also keep in mind that products should not be spread over gardens especially food gardens.

Typical active ingredients for rat poisons are are: brodificoum, diphacinone, warfarin, bromadiolone, and others. Most of these products include green dyes for a characteristic appearance; however, dogs and cats have poor color vision and to them these pellets may look like kibbled pet food.

Anticoagulant rodenticides do not produce signs of poisoning for several days after the toxic dose has been consumed. Anticoagulant rodenticides cause internal bleeding. A poisoning victim will show weakness and pallor but bleeding will likely not be obvious externally.

To understand what these poisons do, it is necessary to have some understanding of how blood clots. A blood vessel is sort of like a pipe carrying rapidly flowing blood along its path. The pipe is lined by smooth flat cells called endothelial cells which facilitate the smooth flow of the blood. If the pipe breaks, the structure of the pipe below the lining is exposed to the flowing blood inside. From there the sequence of events is as follows:

The blood vessel automatically constricts and spasms. This restricts the blood flowing to the damaged area and helps minimize blood loss.

The exposed pipe attracts circulating platelets, cloud-like cells that circulate ready to assist in clotting should the need arise. Platelets clump together over the tear in the blood vessel forming a plug within the first 5 minutes of the injury. This is all a good thing but the platelets will stay in place unless a substance called fibrin can be made to bind them.

Platelets have on their surface binding sites for coagulation proteins, which also circulate normally in inactive forms. These coagulation proteins must be activated in order to produce fibrin. There are two ways to do this: a so-called intrinsic pathway and a so-called extrinsic pathway. There are twelve clotting factors involved between these two pathways and we will not confuse you by reviewing these steps but suffice it to say that calcium is one of the factors as are 4 enzymes called serine proteases. It is the serine proteases which are relevant to rat poisoning. The end product of these pathways is protein fiber called fibrin which binds the platelets and serves as a scaffolding for the permanent healing of the vessel tear.

Anticoagulant (containing a chemical called warfarin) impairs the creation of one of the significant blood clotting factors, prothrombin. Vitamin K is an important factor in the synthesis of prothrombin clotting factors in the blood. Because of this, Vitamin K is considered an antidote for warfarin overdose. If a child or pet inadvertently consumes a warfarin-based rodenticide, the usual treatment is injections of Vitamin K. This is simplified greatly because the actual effects of the warfarin can be measured fairly accurately by measuring the blood clotting rate. This prothrombin clotting time or protime measurement is necessary for anyone on warfarin prophylaxis therapy. Tests may be done as frequently as daily to as infrequently as monthly.

Fleas are the most common cause of itching and skin irritation in cats. Over 90 percent of all skin allergies in cats are due to fleas.

The allergy is actually a reaction to a protein component of the fleas’ saliva. When these “allergic cats” are bitten by a flea they itch themselves until their skin is raw.

Most also end up with areas of hair loss and secondary bacterial skin infections. In addition, fleas suck blood, cause anemia, and transmit tapeworms.

FACT: Fleas can jump 3-feet high

SIGNS YOUR CAT HAS A FLEA PROBLEM

- Itching head, neck and ears.
- Flea dirt
- Hair loss on head and neck area.

WHAT YOU CAN DO

Signs of fleas include itching, especially on the head and neck, and tiny black specks that look like dirt. To confirm that this “dirt” is flea dirt, place it on a cotton ball moistened with water. Flea dirt will turn red because of the blood it contains.

Once your cat has been diagnosed with a flea problem, you need to treat all of the pets in the home and the home itself. In your house, vacuum the carpets and throw away used vacuum bags so that flea eggs do not hatch in the bag.

For your carpeting, try an insect-growth regulator like Pyriproxifen or Methoprine. These are hormone analogies and prevent the flea larvae from developing into an adult. These last up to 18 months.

As an alternative, you can sprinkle sodium polyborate powder, which is “borax”, onto the carpet, then vacuum. This will protect against fleas for up to one year. Be sure to wash your cat’s bedding with hot soapy water.

Finally, bathe all the animals living in your home. Use a flea shampoo with pyrethrins or d-limolene as the active ingredient.

In your yard, natural products that contain nematodes provide the best protection. Nematodes are live microscopic worms that eat the larval and pupal forms of fleas and 250 other outdoor pests. Methoprene (used in Acclaim 2000) and Pyriproxifen (used in Indorex) are also available as yard sprays. One application can last from six to twelve months.

FACT: Constant itching may be a sign that your cat is allergic to fleas.

WARNING

Fleas can life up to one year in your home and yard. If your cat is allergic to fleas, one flea bite sets up a reaction that can cause itching for up to 14 days. Fleas also bite people and other pets. The cat flea (Ctenocephalides felis) is often the primary problem for cats, dogs and people.

Cats are very susceptible to toxic reactions from flea control products containing traditional insecticides such as Organophosphates and Carbamates. Be sure to read labels and only use products specifically approved for your cat.

WHAT YOUR VET CAN DO

Today, prevention is the key to flea control. Many new products are available that last up to 30 days or more and are safe enough for kittens but must be prescribed by your vet. Program is a tablet given monthly or that contains Lufenuron which causes fleas to lay sterile eggs which do not hatch therefore, environmental contamination is also prevented.

Advantage, Frontline, and Revolution are also preventative products available in a liquid form, which are applied to the skin between the shoulder blades at 30-day intervals.

Advantage kills fleas.

Frontline kills adult fleas on contact and prevents ticks on cats and dogs. It has an alcohol base, which has occasionally caused problems in cats.

Revolution is used to prevent fleas, heartworm disease and ear mites.

Regardless of the product used, prevention should start in the spring, when the outdoor temperature reaches 65-70F on a regular basis.

Fleas live primarily in the environment and not on your pet. They only stay on your pets long enough to get a blood meal, then jump back down to the ground and lay more eggs. The presence of just one flea on your cat means that thousands more are nearby, that’s why prevention is so important.

FACT: In cats, fleas prefer the head and neck. Fleas bite the ankles and lower legs in people.

How often have you said “I’d like to leave the rat race” or heard someone else say it? But what exactly is the rat race and how do you leave it?

A search on Google will give you the following definitions:

“an endless, self-defeating or pointless pursuit.”

“an exhausting routine that leaves no time for relaxation”

“strenuous, wearisome, and usually competitive activity or rush”

Does this sound like your job? If so, you could be caught up in a vicious cycle that gives you little freedom to enjoy your life or hope for future financial freedom.

Of course, if you are happy with your job you don’t need to read any further!

However, in most jobs you will be paid a weekly or monthly salary which is usually dictated by your employer. You trade your precious hours for the money you need to buy food and other things that you need or want. The options for increasing your income are limited, and when you do you may find you have less time to enjoy the things the money buys you, more pressure and more stress. Furthermore, your rate of pay always has a ceiling. No matter how far you can climb up the ladder, there is usually a limit on how much you can actually earn.

If you are not really happy in your job or career, of course you could always find a different one. This can work out for many people, and if working for an employer is what you want, then go out and find the job you love.

However, for many people, working in a job which basically is only going to make big money for the man at the top is a soul destroying experience. Trying to get ahead in work that does not really inspire you can lead to disillusion, frustration and eventual burnout. Why spend your life like this?

How do you break out of this cycle and create true financial freedom?

Every single person has the power and ability to control their own life. If you don’t like the job you are in, or if you hate the rat race, you can find an alternative. You have to remember that your life really is your own. Take charge and create a life that you want.

Instead of the treadmill of day to day routine, earning money that only just pays you enough to feed you, clothe you, pay the bills and get you back to the office again, why not break free from the rat race completely? Why not use your spare time to create several income streams that are neither limited by an employer nor by the amount of time you have available?

Self employment may not be for everyone, but if you truly dislike working for an employer then it may be your route to a life you can truly call your own.

There is a world of opportunity out there for anyone who is prepared to take their life in their own hands and build their own path to financial freedom.

Firstly, start thinking differently about the way you earn money. The only way to truly break free of the rat race is to break out of the cycle of trading hours for money and start building a residual income instead: learn how to earn money even when you are not working.

How do you do that? These days there are many ways to create residual income. Of course, you need to do some work, especially in the beginning, but by finding the right niche for you and using the internet to start a business, you can create an income which will build and build and has no limit. Doesn’t that sound better than the same old pay check every month?

Start by doing some research. Look at the opportunities. Find something that you can enjoy, feel passionate about and even have fun with.

You could try affiliate marketing, write an e-book and sell it, build a website from which you can sell stuff 24/7. Look at the things you are interested in and create your own business.

Secondly, find someone who is already achieving this dream and learn from them.

You don’t have to leave your job immediately. Many successful online businesses have been started on top of full time employment, using the spare room or a corner where there’s space for a computer. Within just two years you could be earning a full time income and be able to sack your boss for good.

Look around. Find successful people. Find out what they are doing. There are many opportunities for you to leave the rat race. You just have to break the cycle.
